An easy way to help support the Volunteer Center or any other cause you care about is through a new search engine powered by Yahoo! called GoodSearch. GoodSearch will make a donation to your favorite charity or school with every search. It doesn't cost you a thing — the money comes from the advertisers. We are asking you to support the Volunteer Center by using GoodSearch. Every time you do a search you contribute about a penny to The Volunteer Center! We need all the pennies we can generate because we are no longer supported by Anne Arundel County funding.

This “one-day, one stop” event, initiated by County Executive John Leopold and organized by the Anne Arundel County Department of Social Services, included more than 50 participating agencies. The event was held at Glen Burnie High School for individuals and families experiencing homelessness so they could access benefits, medical care, substance abuse resources, mental health counseling, and a variety of social services which could ultimately lead to housing and self sufficiency. More than 300 volunteers gave their time to attend training and make the day a success. For more about the event, see The Capital Article of April 5, 2008 and the Multimedia Slide Show, also provided by The Capital.
