Helping People Volunteer |
The Anne Arundel Mentoring Roundtable began as a project of Leadership Anne Arundel. We work to bring together individuals and organizations interested in mentoring in Anne Arundel County and encourage organizations to share best practices, resources, and training in areas related to mentoring.
We are currently in the process of redefining the roundtable's mission to meet some of the pressing needs of both new and existing mentoring programs. We hope that by bringing mentoring programs support and training, we can give the youth of Anne Arundel County the chances they need to succeed both academically and personally.
OUR MISSION
To increase the number of Anne Arundel County youth in quality mentoring relationships with wise, trustworthy, and caring adults for the purpose of enhancing career options, raising self-esteem, and empowering youth toward self-sufficiency.

WHAT'S NEW
Ongoing Initiatives: Developing Partnerships to Support Mentoring
- Outreach: We are working to recruit businesses and community organizations with an interest in mentoring. We encourage these groups to partner with schools or community groups to sponsor a mentoring program. Such partnerships provide an opportunity for employees or members to make a huge difference in the life of a child. Mentoring is also a wonderful experience for the mentors! Partnering also provides programs with a reliable source of mentors and a valuable supporter. Businesses, fraternal organizations, and community groups, to learn more about partnering with schools, visit our
business information page to learn more about ways you can support mentoring in Anne Arundel County.
- Training and Resources: The Roundtable connects mentoring programs with the many resources available to them. We hope to become the one-stop information center for mentoring in Anne Arundel County, connecting program coordinators with others so that they can share their knowledge, as well as directing them to outside resources. Training for both mentors and coordinators is always needed, and the Roundtable is working with the Maryland Mentoring Partnership and with Anne Arundel Community College to find ways to offer mentor training in Anne Arundel County.
